What Events Will You Manage in Your Career As an Event Manager

This is one of the best things about this career. There is no event the same as another. This means there is never a day like the other in the office!

What are the main events you plan?

This post will be divided between corporate events as well as other events. These two types of events are distinct and often have little overlap.

CORPORATE EVENT TYPES

Corporate event types can include:

Conferences

A primary type of event is the corporate conference. This is a gathering of large numbers in a place that focuses on a single theme, product, or service. This event may include speakers, demonstrations, performances, round tables and networking opportunities.

Conventions are large-scale events that take place in conference centers or halls. Conferences are now also held online.

Trade shows

Trade shows are events that focus on a specific industry or topic and not just one company. You can have as few or as many people or thousands. These events will include exhibitions, displays and showcases, speakers, and entertainment.

Convention centers and conference halls can also host trade shows. They don’t work as well virtually.

Seminars

Seminar planning and execution are very similar to a conference. It’s about learning, teaching, and sharing information, but it’s a lot more this time. Although they can be very popular, they are often divided into smaller groups to provide more effective training.

Sessions can be broken into smaller groups, and everyone gets together to socialize and network.

Seminars can be held wherever you like, depending on their size and scope. Ideal seminar locations would have smaller learning areas and more social spaces.

Off-site meetings and company meetings

Off-sites and company meetings will usually be smaller in scale but more elegant. These meetings can include board and executive meetings as well as stakeholder meetings, training, off-site meetings, company relaunches, or anything else.

The location of the event will depend on its size. It can be anywhere from a fine restaurant to a banquet hall or even an entire conference center.

Team building

Although team-building events have been extremely popular in the past few years, you still need to plan for them. The client will decide the scope of the event. It could be small with only a few people or large with hundreds.

You can have a variety of team-building events. Outdoor activities can be combined with indoor competitions, seminars, and presentations that offer real mental and physical challenges. There are many venues, from forests and outward-bound centers to concert halls and stately homes.

Company party

One of the most varied events you will work with is company parties. These events can range from small-scale dinners to hiring an exclusive nightclub for a corporate client.

An event might involve planning a theme, performing artists, talent management, transport, or booking a restaurant and catering service for the evening. This type of event is also possible at various purpose-built venues all over the country.

Launch a product or service

As an event manager, the product launch is the last type of corporate event that you will plan. These events can be similar to a conference or party but are more energetic and promotional.

A product launch can be held anywhere, from golf courses to specific industry venues such as factories, hotels, or stadiums. It all depends on the company’s size and scope.

As an event manager, you will likely be asked to organize events for individuals and non-corporate organizations. There are many types of event managers, including:

Weddings

While some brides prefer to work with a dedicated wedding planner, others prefer working with an event planner. Organizers face a unique challenge when planning weddings of varying sizes, budgets, and scopes.

Traditional venues are the most common choice for weddings, but you may be asked to charter a yacht, hire a field, organize a barn dance, or create a mini-festival. There are no two weddings the same.

Festivals

Festivals are another event you will be involved in planning throughout your career. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small-scale literary or food festival or a large-scale music festival like Download, Glastonbury or others.

You can find venues anywhere, from a wheat field to a stadium. Some venues are small enough to be used as church halls, while others require a lot of space.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions are one of the most common events you will likely work with. They can be industry exhibitions, art, sculpture or national exhibitions and present unique challenges.

These venues include galleries, shopping centers, conference centers and train stations. We use many spaces for exhibitions, depending on the type of space.

Charity events

There are many charity events. You can use charity events to raise awareness, thank contributors, or hold celebrity auctions. You can raise more money if you are more creative.

You can hold charity events anywhere. Some clients may want to be frugal, while others might want to show appreciation.

Sports and Competition

Sports events and competitions can range from organizing a race on closed roads to hosting a large audience of thousands of computer gamers. This is another event planner’s nightmare where everything is possible, but the challenges can be enormous.

The most common venues for the competition are sports stadiums and auditoriums.

Red carpet events and fashion shows are high-profile events that you might do a lot of, or not at all. These events can be incredible, but they are not easy to organize. These events are more about coordination than technical planning, but they can be challenging for even the most experienced event manager.

Venues could be anywhere from shopping centers with enough space to host a catwalk to West End theatres or cinemas with enough space for red carpets.

You can probably think of many other types of events, but these are the main responsibilities of our day. This is one of the most rewarding careers you can have.
