Taiwanese Food Festival
Taiwan’s snack and street food offers a variety of endless and ever-changing options, reflecting the cultural, religious and traditions of the places where it is served. Taiwan’s simple snack and street food tells the kaleidoscope of stories of the island’s peoples, their beliefs and superstitions, their hopes and dreams.
Guest chef, Geoff Yu, Sous Chef at Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Taiwan, has created a vibrant menu and will oversee the kitchen throughout the festival. The menu sees a traditional hawker station which includes "Lu rou fan" a fragrant, braised minced pork on steamed rice and “Niu rou mian” the celebrated Taiwanese beef noodle soup.
A tempting hot buffet will feature prominent Taiwanese dishes including the southern Taiwanese style deep-fried whole fish with onion, pepper, mushroom, coriander and sweet and sour sauce. Starters and sides will also shine including poached squid with Taiwanese style spicy tomato dressing. Plus a decadent selection of traditional Taiwanese desserts will be available.
Priced at $55 per person for lunch and $85 per person for dinner. Available 1 July until 10 July, 2016. Presented in partnership with Taipei Economic and Cultural Office Sydney, Friends of Taiwan in Australia and the World Federation of Chinese Traders Association.
